Epileptic Man Found Dead in a Pit Well In Nimba

Alvin Karneh, 34, was found dead during the early morning hours of Sunday, August 1, 2021, in a watering hole near Pastor  Moore’s village along the Tappita-Zwedru highway in Tappita Statutory District, Nimba County.

According to eyewitnesses, the deceased was seen on Sunday morning, taking his dirty clothes to a nearby pit well to launder. But after couple of hours when he did not return, a close friend of Alvin’s named Aloysius moved towards the same direction and discovered the body of late Alvin Karneh in a pit well.

Aloysius immediately alarmed the situation to residents of the village. The incident coincided with the visit of the village owner Pastor Ernest Moore, who also serves as head Pastor of the Assemblies of God Church in Tappita, Nimba County.

According to family source, the deceased Alvin was an epileptic patient for over couple years ago.

Epilepsy is a central nervous system (neurological) disorder in which brain activity becomes abnormal, causing seizures or periods of unusual behavior, sensations, and sometimes loss of awareness.

Following discovery of the deceased’s body, the villagers notified the Liberia National Police at Tappita, a situation that caused the police to immediately move in to constitutes a 15-man jury to ascertain the cause of death. The jury later disclosed there was no foul play.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been turned over to the family and has been laid to rest.

The late Alvin Karneh belonged to the Gio tribe. He was married with four children and was a casual worker on Pastor Moore’s farm.

Moore’s village is situated five kilometers away from Tappita City, lower Nimba County.
