Monrovia – The Student Unification Party or SUP for short, says its attention has been drawn to what it calls continuous threats on the life of its Secretary General Martin K. N. Kollie and other campaigners of the Bring Back Our Money Campaign.

“Such threats are direct attack on press freedom and free speech,” SUP said in a statement Thursday, adding, “We condemn it in the highest form and call for the full security of Cde. Kollie and others.”

The vocal student party fell short of stating who exactly was behind the issuance of threats on the lives of Kollie et al, but the SUP indicated that the George Weah-led government will be held liable if anything happens to its secretary-general Martin Kollie and other campaigners.

The party disclosed that it has also learned that the Government of Liberia is pressurizing authorities of the state-run University of Liberia to arbitrarily expel Martin Kollie for reasons the SUP says are unknown and unjustified.

“SUP and the mass of university students will resist in all forms any attempt by GoL and UL to hatch this devilish plot,” SUP stated, adding, “Kollie has done nothing wrong to be targeted in such manners. Those who stole the money must be the real targets.”

The party used the occasion to congratulate all peaceful protesters that turned out en masse for the September 24, 2018 protest, saying, “What you did was a true demonstration of your unhindered patriotism and loyalty to our country.”

“Henceforth, SUP reiterates its mandate for thousands of its militants and sympathizers to get fully involved with the Bring Back Our Campaign,” the SUP statement said.

Meanwhile, SUP has announced that its 48th Anniversary is slated to be held from November 11 – 16, 2018, with the party informing all of its members, sympathizers and well-wishers about the upcoming celebrations.

Pursuant to the celebrations, SUP Anniversary Committee will regularly release updates on activities pertinent to the party’s historic and annual festival, with a mandate that all members, sympathizers and well-wishers fully support the anniversary committee.
