Voinjama – A 25-year-old mother, Kaibeh Akoi, who recently gave birth to a set of triplets in Voinjama City, Lofa County is calling on the Government of Liberia, philanthropists and humanitarian organizations to come to her aid in providing support for her children.
The 25-year-old and her fiancé, George J. Cooper are currently unemployed, are both students of the Lofa County Community College in Voinjama City.
In a PUNCH interview in Voinjama, Kaibeh disclosed that she gave birth to her children, a male and two females, since 21 July 2018, at the Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital in Voinjama, adding that the triplets are her first set of children.
Kaibeh said the children who along with their father bear the same surname, Cooper, have already been named Sorsor, Martha, and Serena respectively, adding that the infants are currently feeding on Guigoz milk and her breast milk which she says is in short supply for all three of the babies
A can of Guigoz milk is sold for LRD$1,200 on the local market in Voinjam, said the 25-year-old mother, who added that a can of milk is only used for two days to feed the three children; something she sees as a serious challenge for the unemployed parents who are only students.
Kaibeh expressed gratitude to Lofa County Superintendent William Kamba, who she said provided them three cans of Guigoz milk that were exhausted within just six days to feed the babies.
PUNCH understands that to feed the kids for a month, Kaibeh will need a total of LRD $18,000, only for milk, lest to speak of clothing, powder, medications, and other things that are of necessity to the upkeep of the infants.
